The Virtual Worlds Museum™ Teleportal™ is officially available on the Meta Quest Store. The app transforms years of museum research and documentation into an interactive map and gateway for exploring virtual world platforms.
Visitors can learn about virtual worlds, open their websites, and launch supported platforms installed on their Meta Quest 3. Current platform integrations include Roblox, VRChat, Horizon Worlds, ENGAGE XR, BurnerSphere, and Banter, with more planned for future updates.
By bringing research, discovery, and direct access together, the Teleportal helps visitors understand virtual worlds as interconnected cultural spaces shaped by communities, creativity, technology, and shared experience.
A huge thank you to Steve Van Loon for his continued support and for helping us advance the Teleportal from an experimental mapping project into an accessible Meta Quest application.

We are also excited to share an independent video review titled “The Meta Quest App That Maps the Metaverse.” In addition to reviewing the Teleportal, the video serves as a practical user guide that introduces viewers to the application, its interface, and its approach to navigating the wider landscape of virtual worlds.
Independent reviews like this are incredibly valuable because they help new visitors understand the experience while offering thoughtful outside perspectives that can guide the Teleportal’s continued development.

Another important development in our interoperability work is the creation of a persistent portal inside our Virtual Worlds Museum™ hub in ENGAGE XR. Visitors to the museum hub can now use the portal as a direct pathway back to the Teleportal.
ENGAGE XR is an immersive education, collaboration, and content-creation platform that supports experiences across VR headsets, computers, mobile devices, and other spatial computing systems. It provides tools for virtual classrooms, events, simulations, digital twins, media sharing, and collaborative worldbuilding.
The persistent portal creates a meaningful bridge between our museum presence inside ENGAGE XR and the broader Teleportal experience. It represents a practical step toward improving discoverability and helping visitors move between platforms, museum hubs, research, and virtual experiences.
We extend our sincere thanks to the ENGAGE XR team for supporting this connection and helping make the museum’s growing network more accessible.

New episodes of the Virtual Worlds Museum™ Spotlight Video Series are now available on Teleportal TV, with many more interviews and platform stories currently in production.
The series documents the technologies, cultures, communities, creative practices, and world builders that have shaped virtual worlds. Recent episodes include stories from active and sunset platforms, preserving firsthand perspectives that could otherwise disappear as technologies and communities change.
A huge shout-out to Evo Heyning, Carlos Austin, and Rachael Newport for their creativity, commitment, and ongoing work across virtual worlds. Their contributions have been essential to filming interviews, visiting platforms, telling these stories, and building the growing Teleportal TV archive.

The continued growth of the Spotlight Video Series and Teleportal TV was made possible by the people who supported our successful Kickstarter campaign.
Their contributions are helping the Virtual Worlds Museum™ process its growing interview archive, produce new episodes, document more world builders, and preserve stories from platforms before they are lost.

To every supporter who contributed, shared the campaign, encouraged our team, or helped communicate why this work matters, thank you. This growing archive exists because a community of people believes the histories, cultures, and creative achievements of virtual worlds deserve to be documented and remembered.
For organizations, platforms, studios, educators, and sponsors who did not have an opportunity to join the crowdfunder, there is still a way to support the next phase of this work.
The Virtual Worlds Museum™ is actively seeking aligned sponsors and partners to help expand the Spotlight Video Series, grow Teleportal TV, document more world builders, and preserve the stories of platforms across WebXR, VR, games, apps, open source, Blockchain, and sunset worlds.
Sponsorship helps us conduct interviews, film inside virtual platforms, edit and publish new episodes, improve our educational resources, expand the Teleportal, and preserve important cultural histories for future visitors. ✨ Visit the Virtual Worlds Museum™ Sponsor Page →

The Virtual Worlds Museum™ is proud to announce that it is an official sponsor of IMMERSIVE X 2026, taking place entirely in virtual reality from November 10 through November 12, 2026.
IMMERSIVE X is a global XR festival and curated international community that brings together forward-thinking voices from academia, art, culture, entertainment, governance, healthcare, society, business, and technology. The 2026 festival theme, “Reclaim the Future,” asks how XR and immersive media can help people imagine, design, and actively create more meaningful futures.
Julian Reyes, Founder and Director of the Virtual Worlds Museum™, will speak at the VR conference and unveil museum hubs that demonstrate how the Virtual Worlds Museum™ is building a distributed cultural and educational presence across multiple platforms.
This partnership reflects a shared commitment to experimentation, education, cultural exchange, community building, and thoughtful exploration of immersive technology.
The Virtual Worlds Museum™ recently co-hosted an event with IMMERSIVE X inside our new VRChat museum hub, a digital space imported from our former Rec Room build.
The hub is more than a new event venue. It is a working example of virtual-world preservation. By transferring the museum environment from a sunset platform into VRChat, we were able to retain part of its architecture, identity, and community history while giving the space a new home.
The event brought community members together to discuss virtual-world preservation, platform closures, creator experiences, and the importance of helping communities carry their memories and cultural identity beyond any single platform.
We are grateful to IMMERSIVE X for helping activate this preserved space and for joining us in demonstrating that while platforms may change or disappear, the communities, stories, and creative work built within them can continue.
