Virtual Worlds Museum's XR in Universities Showcase

Welcome to the Virtual Worlds Museum’s comprehensive directory of XR University programs and degrees across the United States. Our goal is to provide a valuable resource for prospective students, educators, researchers, and XR enthusiasts who are eager to explore academic opportunities in immersive technologies. This initiative is part of our commitment to fostering the growth of the XR community and supporting the next generation of innovators in virtual, augmented, and mixed reality.

The list includes cutting-edge programs such as the Media and Immersive eXperience (MIX) Center in Mesa, Arizona, which opened in 2022. This state-of-the-art facility hosts hundreds of students engaged in film, media arts, design, and emerging technology programs, providing a fertile ground for creating new virtual worlds and immersive media experiences.

Additionally, we highlight Foothill College’s Emerging Technologies Institute (ETI), established in 2022. Foothill College has been a pioneer in online education since 1995, and ETI continues this legacy by offering programs in Virtual Reality (VR), Artificial Intelligence (AI), and other emerging technologies, aimed at enhancing immersive student learning experiences.

Please feel free to share this research and send us other entries that we might want to include:
