Just like other Virtual World games, Chit Chat City allowed you to customize your online avatar by with accessories and gadgets. Players were able to interact with online players, make new friends, explore the game world, collect resources, build your own house and decorate it, and party with friends.

Chit Chat City blended social worldbuilding with casual creation tools, allowing players to design shops, items, and city spaces. It contributed to the idea that user‑generated economies could be built around creativity rather than combat or leveling. Its focus on player‑run businesses foreshadowed the creator‑entrepreneur culture now common in Roblox and Second Life. The platform helped normalize casual, everyday creativity as a core loop in virtual worlds.
